If you belong to the age group of 5-15 years, that is.
You will wake up late (no early morning schools for a month or more), eat a lazy breakfast, slump over the TV half-watching Cartoon Network (or some such). And then Mummy will take you to any or all of the following, in any sequence:
Shiamak Davar's dance classes
Swimming classes at the club
Kathak/Bharatnatyam classes
Art/Craft/Drama/Acting workshops for Little Stars and their starry-eyed parents
Football practice (in proper Nike/Reebok/Adidas/Puma boots, please)
Tennis classes
Karate classes
Piano/Keyboard/Guitar/Drums/Vuvuzela classes
Summer camps where you will be summarily regimented.
ALL IN ONE DAY!!!!! ALL EVERY DAY, 5 DAYS A WEEK.
I might have missed out a few.
I ALSO KNOW WHAT YOU WILL (PROBABLY) NOT DO THIS SUMMER:
Pick up unripe/overripe mangoes fallen under a tree
Stroll barefoot on the grass
Spring-clean your own room
Help mummy to make papad, pickles, chutneys, cakes and stuff
Curl up on the sofa and read books, books, books.
IT'S SUMMER ALL RIGHT, BUT IS IT A HOLIDAY??

Hi! Long time...
I am so determined to have my daughter ENJOY picking unripe mangoes and eating them with salt and chilli powder and spend half the morning reading on the swing tied to the backyard tree, just like I did. And I I will pack her off to my parents place where time still stands still.
This is my plan. My daughter is only 3. Time will tell if things play out the way I want them to.
You are so on the right track, which is definitely not the fast track. Children need their freedom...even though I am guilty of putting them in a keyboard class (we can't afford a piano), that's only once a week. I am planning to take them to watch plays at Prithvi Theatre and stuff like that. Have also stocked up on books. Other one-day-only activities like a hands-on experiments class with water and stuff, and a group wall-painting project (not our home walls, thank God!) are waiting.
BTW, your daughter is absolutely adorable!!
They will also not make Rasna!!
I am 24 and I still spend my summers eating raw mangoes and reading, reading, reading.:-P
Lovely post sucharita, but where are you since then??
